Curriculum

At Briar Hill we teach a different topic each half term. Each topic ensures that subjects are linked and we follow a creative curriculum to teach subjects in an engaging and fun way. We ensure that all children make progress with an emphasis on focused teaching to meet their individual needs.

All classes are mixed ability and learning is planned at the appropriate level for each child. Learning is planned to allow children to learn through play based activities that happen both within the classroom and outside. Each classroom has a role play area.

National Curriculum 2014 subjects that the children are taught include:
  • English (reading, writing, speaking and listening)
  • Maths (Number, shape, space and measure, data handling)
  • Science
  • Computing
  • History
  • Geography
  • Design and Technology
  • Art
  • Music
  • Physical Education
Non  National Curriculum subjects we teach are Religious Education and Personal, Social and Health Education (PHSE).
