Welcome

This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Welcome to Briar Hill Infant School.

Briar Hill is a successful and highly regarded infant school serving a diverse and evolving community. Parental links are very strong and a supportive School Association enables us to enhance the school environment.

The school was  inspected in February 2014 and was judged to be 'outstanding'.

The ever changing educational landscape has presented both challenges and opportunities that a motivated and experienced team are committed to fulfilling.

The behaviour of our children is outstanding and our embedded use of Building Learning Power enables the children to be successful, independent learners.

Now that we are federated with St. Margaret's, where most of our children move to after Year 2, our curriculum, ethos and practices ensure smooth transition.

This web site will provide you with an insight into our aims, values and the environment we create to support the learning of young children.

Our vision

- is to provide high quality, creative and challenging education within a safe, caring and happy school community, where children develop a life long love of learning.

Our values

- our school is a place where;

  • everyone is made to feel welcome
  • we respect and care for ourselves, others and everything around us
  • everyone benefits from, and is committed to, excellence in learning

Our mission statement

- Enjoying the journey together towards excellence - we want all the community to know that being involved at our school is a 'enjoyable' experience. As a school we want to move 'towards excellence' in all that we do.

Briar Hill is a friendly vibrant three form entry infant school. The children are aged between four and seven and we have nine classes with thirty children in each class. These are organised into three year groups of ninety in each; Year R, Year 1 and Year 2.

We are a Building Learning Power school, which is an approach to helping children to become better learners both in school and out. It teaches children habits and attitudes that help them with their learning and life challenges in a calm, confident and creative way.
