Year 2 were lucky enough to go to St Margarets Junior school this morning to watch the scientist Tim Harrison from Bristol University Chemlab and his amazing show of Gases In The Air. It was amazing! They learnt many interesting facts and saw some brilliant chemical reactions.
This site gives some great advice on keeping safe online. Please have a look and read the appropriate information for the age of your child.
As part of our E-Safety provision in school we are running a competition.
This is in conjunction with Warwickshire ICTDS, our support team at Warwickshire for all of our ICT equipment.
There is a prize of £100 for the winning school which has been donated by Smoothwall, the company who supplies our e-safety systems within school.
The competition is to design a new Online Safety Superhero.
This can be hand drawn, produced on a computer or made. All Superheroes need a name so please give them a suitable Online Safety Superhero name and tell us about their Online Safety Superhero Power!
All entries must come back into school by Wednesday 10th January so that we can judge the finalist to send off. Only one entry per school can be entered.
Good Luck!!
They took part in many activities throughout the day. In the morning they were measured for their uniform, weighed and checked for their age, some of them lied!!
They had fitness tests carrying a backpack full of kit, drill marched on the playground in the cold and rain. The children also had the chance to look at several artifacts we have in school and some even tried to play the bugle!
Most of all they had a great day and really enjoyed learning all about how hard it was in those days.
Year 2 are looking at coding this half term. Their first lesson is Coding without Computers!
This involves the children learning what an algorithm is and how it is used in computing.
They then follow and algorithm to make a paper hat, realising that some of the code isn't enough to make it work!
They then acted out being the computer and followed another algorithm.
See how they got on. Their algorithm depended on which coloured hat they were wearing.
Your child has been accessing Purple Mash at school and so we would like to give them the opportunity to use this at home.
They have been given information on how to do this at home along with their logon and password needed.
As always we recommend you supervise them when they are on the computer, especially as this is an online product.
Please find below a copy of the letter that has gone home with instructions on it.
