  • The Federation of Briar Hill School and St Margaret's School

    Mon 19 Sep 2016

    Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to say a sincere thank you to the children, staff and governors of the Federation of Briar Hill Infants and St Margaret's CofE Junior School, for warmly welcoming me into the family. I am delighted to take up my post as Executive Headteacher and look forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks. I am so pleased to have met some of you already over the course of my first week.

The governors, staff and myself share a passionate commitment to retaining and protecting the distinctiveness of both schools, whilst building on their individual strengths. We will continue to place high importance on the existing excellence in behaviour, achievement and enrichment. The children and staff are already generating some wonderful possibilities for collaboration over the coming year.

If I am going to achieve my ambitious target of knowing the names of all staff and children by the end of this academic year, I will be spending equal amounts of time in both schools. I will be ably supported by Mrs Byrne at Briar Hill Infants and Mrs Anstee at St Margaret's Junior School who will support in leading each school.

In the near future we hope to involve parents, carers and pupils in creating our new vision for the federation, so we hope you will share your thoughts with us.

I look forward to an exciting future for the federation as we work together in collaboration and continue to deliver exciting and creative learning opportunities for the children in our school community.

    Yours sincerely

    Sukie Owers

  • Trim Trail

    Mon 12 Sep 2016

Can we please politely ask you to keep your children off the Trim Trail both before school starts and after school ends. This applies to all children regardless of their age and if they go to Briar Hill or not.

The equipment is designed to be used only with supervision from a member of Briar Hill staff who has been trained on the correct way to use it.

    We don't want any accidents!

    Thank you

  • First week back

    Sun 11 Sep 2016

It was a fantastic first week back for Year 1 and Year 2.

We concentrated our learning around a book called Georgie Grub, about a little boy who doesn't like to wash!

The children were involved in various aspects of learning and different activities all based around the book. From making collages of Georgie using rubbish to learning about why it is important that we keep clean, they enjoyed it all.
