  • Reading Rewards

    Fri 20 Oct 2017

On Thursday some of our children in Year 1 & 2 received their certificates and bookmarks for reading at least 4 times a week at home. If your child didn't get one there will be another chance to do this next half term. They must read at least 4 times a week at home with yourselves every week for at least 4 weeks of the half term.

You need to write in their reading diary that this has taken place and the class LSA will put a sticker on their chart. There will be a class list monitoring this each week so that towards the end of half term we can count up who has achieves this ready for the assembly, which is held on the last week of the half term.  Good luck and happy reading for next half term!

  • Think Tank Visit

    Wed 18 Oct 2017
On Monday 16th October superstar scientists from across the Federation visited the Think Tank museum in Birmingham for a fantastic day of discovery.  The children had all submitted winning designs in the 'Marble Keepy Uppy' competition held last term and were keen to extend their learning and explore the museums interactive science areas. Highlights included a super 360 degrees planetarium show, investigating forces in the science garden, and meeting Tim Peake! - well almost! The day was funded by the Ogden Trust and enabled several local schools to partner together in celebrating the talent and imagination our pupils show.
Well done Briar Hill and St Margaret's winners, you represented us well and we are really proud of you all!

  • Year 1 Super Learning

    Fri 06 Oct 2017

Year 1 children used their senses today to smell and taste various items. They ranged from vinegar to perfume. The children had to then predict what they thought it was! Did you know that water smells like water?

Can you guess what they were smelling by their faces?
