Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment. This page is updated regularly so please check back often.
We have set up and tweeted out first tweet! Please follow us for new information, characters allowing. We will use this method of communication along with all of our others, hopefully we will reach all of our parents one way or another.
As part of our mission to go paperless we are launching a new app linked to our text and email service. This app is free to download and will allow you to receive all texts and notifications via the app, so you only need to check one thing. You will receive a link shortly to download the app.
We will obviously still send information out in all other ways just in case you choose not to have the app. We will use the school website, school Facebook page, text messages and email messages to keep you as updated as we can. Please do keep having a look at the school website as we also put up pictures and information on the class pages.
You are able to link the school calendar to your own personal online calendar if you wish, got to the school website and the calendar section and click on the 'link to your calendar'.
Look out for our Twitter account in January!!
Thank you to all parents who supported this afternoon, despite it being very cold!
The children sang beautifully along with St Margaret's pupils.
We had some old favourites and some new.
Please return all home reader books to school by Friday 15th December. This is so we can look at our book provision and with financial help from PTA,. purchase some new ones.
Please read your own books over the holidays or take a visit to the library.
We will give out new books in the Spring term.
Briar Hill and St. Margaret's will be open on 13/12/17. Please only use cleared pathways for accessing school and take extra care. Children may attend school wearing non-uniform and suitable footwear for the conditions tomorrow. We want them to be comfortable during their time in school.
Reception concerts at Briar Hill planned for 13th and 14th will go ahead. Carols in the Cold on 15th will also go ahead. If there are any changes, these will be communicated.
Thank you for your patience.
Our Federated Christmas Fair was a great success. We raised a fantastic £1500 at Briar Hill alone. Thank you to everyone who helped out whether it was setting up, running a game, donating a prize or clearing up afterwards, you all helped hugely to achieve this.
Thank you for your support with the locking of our car park, it ensured that all of our families were safe moving across from site to site, and there was a lot of movement! It was lovely to see and hear lots of children talking about going to the other one or children from St Margaret's coming to enjoy the Briar Hill fair too. We are looking forward to the Summer one already!
Makaton is a language programme that uses signs, symbols and speech to aid and support communication. Staff at Briar Hill school have recently undertaken Makaton training to support some of our children to communicate with staff and other pupils. We have also established a Makaton Club which is open to Year 1 and 2 children, this runs at lunchtime.
We will soon be introducing a ‘sign of the month’ that will be displayed around the school, on the school website and will be taught to all children in school.
Children who attend the Makaton Club are taking part in a special assembly during which they will perform a song that they will sing and sign to. We will be inviting parents of those children who attend the club to come in to the assembly and watch.
Please follow the link for more information about Makaton.
